Scattered thunderstorms will start to develop late this afternoon (after 3-4PM) as the first of multiple disturbances makes its way into the mid-Atlantic states. Activity will be rather scattered/isolated this afternoon, but storms that do develop will contain heavy downpours and possible some damaging wind gusts (30-50mph+)… this is actually the better severe threat. The main threat for heavy rain and flooding will be 8PM-2AM, though some damaging wind gusts will still be possible with the heaviest rain (especially early on). With abundant moisture available, heavy downpours with 1.00-2.00″/hour rainfall rates could result in loclized 1.00-2.50″+ amounts… leading to poor drainage and roadway flash flooding. Widespread showers and storms taper off 12-2am with any lingering showers ending by daybreak.
