An approaching cold front will bring a line of showers and some stronger thunderstorms to the area later today. Storms arrive between 7 PM – midnight with the best chance of storms before 11 PM. Strong wind gusts in excess of 50 mph and heavy rain are the main threats. Rain will fall heavy at times with rates over 1″/hr in the heaviest downpours. This could cause some poor drainage / roadway flooding. Tornadoes are a lesser threat, but an isolated tornado can’t completely be ruled out. Skies are expected to turn partly cloudy tonight behind the showers and storms.
