(Lindenwold, NJ) – Freeholder Susan Shin-Angulo was notified today by the New Jersey Division of Traffic Operations that New Brooklyn-New Freedom Road in Winslow Township will be closed next week. A project to install a new railroad crossing will commence on Monday, Aug. 7, at 7 a.m. A detour will be in place while the project is underway.

“Motorists need to be mindful of the construction crews working on this roadway and be mindful of the detour put in place,” said Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “If you’re driving along New Brooklyn-New Freedom Road, please stay prepared for traffic pattern changes and sudden stops. If you plan on driving through the area give yourself extra time to get to your destination.”

The project will begin on Monday and is expected to last several days. Crews will be removing the railroad crossing in order to replace it with a new concrete crossing equipped with new asphalt approaches. Access to New Brooklyn-New Freedom Road will be restricted and drivers will be directed along a detour route utilizing North Grove Street and West Taunton Avenue.

The repairs are expected to be completed by Wednesday, Aug. 9, but could take longer if faced with unfavorable weather conditions. Commuters utilizing public transportation can monitor www.njtransit.com  for updates.
