2024 Camden County Prominent Hispanic Award Winner

I grew up in Dominican Republic working in my family’s bakery at the age of 12 until I came to the United States at the age of 18. When I arrived, I enrolled at Cathedral Kitchen school for Baking Arts. By this time, I had my first job in US as a server at Old San Juan, a restaurant located in Camden, NJ. While working in the restaurant, I decided I wanted to go back to Cathedral Kitchen for Culinary Arts. This is where I found Anthony and our love story began, but that story is for another time. I got my certification and continued working at Old San Juan for 6 years until being promoted to manager. It wasn’t until I got a taste of running the show myself that I came to realize I would love to have my own restaurant. The timing could not have been more perfect. We found Monmouth Street train station and knew this was the perfect place to put what we have been working so hard for. I have now left Old San Juan after 6 more years to embark on this new journey. We have come such a long way and appreciate all the support we have gotten so far. We hope you enjoy the food and make Maria’s Station Café your new go-to spot!
