(Cherry Hill, NJ) – The sight of paddle boats and kayaks floating down Cooper River is sure to become commonplace now that the boats are available for rent in Cooper River Park. The service is available Thursday through Sunday and offers a great new way to enjoy the river.
Freeholder Jeff Nash, liaison to the Camden County Parks Department, called the new addition an “obvious home-run.”
“The Parks Department is always looking for new ways to enhance the user experience for residents throughout our park system. This offering is just the latest in that series of efforts,” Nash said. “There is a great professional, Mike Martin, who will be operating the stand and he’ll be able to get you started whether you’re a paddle boat pro or you’re just looking to try something new. Along with all of the other great amenities in the park and throughout the county, finding something you’ll enjoy has never been easier.”
Rentals are available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Paddle boat rentals cost $20 for an hour on the river, and kayak rentals cost $30 per hour. Special rates are available during the week for those who wish to stay out on the river for longer. The concession stand is located at the corner of Cuthbert Blvd. and North Park Dr. in Cherry Hill.
Cooper River Park is home to more than two dozen state-of-the-art outdoor amenities including four volleyball courts, two softball fields, multiple bike paths, a dog park, areas for fishing, and much more. The park also holds the Camden County Boathouse, which hosts rowing and sailing events throughout the summer and functions as a world-class reception venue.
