(Gloucester Township, NJ) – Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez announced that the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone (commonly called Narcan) will be available for free to residents at participating pharmacies throughout Camden County from September 24 through 26 as part of a statewide effort to combat the opioid crisis.
“Camden County residents can anonymously obtain two doses of naloxone at no cost to them, without an appointment or a prescription,” said Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Department of Health and Huma Services. “As we battle this epidemic, the ability to quickly administer naloxone is the difference between life and death for an individual in distress.”

Naloxone can reverse overdoses from opioids by blocking the effects of opioids on the brain. Those who obtain naloxone will also be given information regarding addiction treatment and recovery. The naloxone will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.
