Elizabeth Martinez was born in Florida. At the age of 4 Elizabeth came to Camden, NJ with her Parents who were from Puerto Rico. Liz, as she is lovingly known by family and close friends, was raised in the City of Camden with her siblings. Liz is the 4th child out of 9.

On July 3, 1973, Liz married her sweetheart and love of her life the Late Rev. Edwin A. Martinez from that union came 3 children, Jessica, Edwin Jr., and Alexandra. In May 2009 they became grandparents to their only grandchild Jazlyne. On December 1973 Elizabeth and her husband attended a revival at the Camden Convention Center that is where Elizabeth and Edwin gave their hearts to Christ and decided to dedicate their lives to the Lord’s work.

Liz was very supportive when her husband Edwin decided to attend bible institute and become an ordained minister. In 1988 Elizabeth and Edwin were called to the ministry and became Pastors of Puerta De Salvacion in Camden, NJ. Liz was lovingly referred to as the First Lady of the church by the members of the congregation. Liz was instrumental as the First Lady in the congregation, she was involved in the community outreach. Her and members of the congregation would supply food and clothing to the homeless. For Thanksgiving Liz would organize a group of women from the church so that they could prepare a warm dinner to feed those in need. During Christmas her and members of the congregation provided gifts to children in shelters. Liz was instrumental in organizing the Women’s, Youth, and children’s ministry. Every Sunday Liz along with other leaders of the church would make breakfast for 100 children who would come to attend Sunday Bible Study.

Whenever a family of the congregation found themselves in need Liz always made sure to assist in providing groceries or making a collection of offerings to assist with the need. Liz served as an advisor to the women and young ladies of the church. Liz and her husband also counseled young couples who were taking that step into marriage. Not only was Liz the First Lady of the church and a mother, but she was also an employee for 16 years for Camden County Health and Human services where she worked in the WIC Dept until she retired due to illness.

Even though the Lord called Edwin home Liz continues to work on his legacy that he left behind at Puerta De Salvacion. She is still a member of the congregation and was implemented as one of the Associate Pastors of the church. Her and along with other officials assist the new Pastor with daily outreaching and maintaining the vision that God gave her husband the Late Rev. Edwin A. Martinez. Liz also attended bible institute but due to her illness had to take a break.
