David Roeber is a lawyer who has demonstrated a deep commitment to ensuring support for fragile communities in Camden County. While at Rutgers Law School–Camden, he volunteered for the school’s Domestic Violence Clinic. David and his wife, Meredith, then became a licensed
resource family for New Jersey’s foster care system, ultimately adopting two children.
In 2014, David began volunteering with UrbanPromise in Camden, a nonprofit that helps families remove barriers to their success across several areas, serving on its corporate committee and assisting with fundraising efforts. Recognizing the significant need for legal services in the
community, David worked with the organization to help launch what would become the Volunteer UP Legal Clinic. In the clinic’s early years, David served as volunteer lead attorney and assisted with all aspects of its operations, including performing intake, representing clients, recruiting and organizing volunteer lawyers, managing open cases and building out infrastructure. He would spend his Saturday mornings at the UrbanPromise Food Co-Op visiting with families and working to understand and meet their legal needs. David helped develop community partnerships and met with regional law firms to create an advisory board. As the clinic became more sophisticated, he served on the executive committee that navigated multiple organizational changes, ultimately resulting in the clinic becoming an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2022.
David continues to serve on the clinic’s advisory board and sits on the founding board of directors. In 2023, the clinic assisted more than 375 clients. David is a partner at the law firm Stradley Ronon. He serves as a member of the firm’s diversity and pro bono committees and as the pro bono liaison for the firm’s Cherry Hill office. David and Meredith live with their four children in Haddon Heights.
