On Thursday, the Board of Commissioners and the Health Department held the Camden County Local Boards of Health Summit, an event where municipal governments and local boards of health from across New Jersey come together to discuss comprehensive approaches to public health for better community outcomes.

This year’s summit featured presentations about strengthening youth mental health, improving food safety practices and lead hazard control, among other topics.

“Each year, this summit provides the opportunity for health departments across the county to come together and discuss how we can all improve our approach to public health,” said Commissioner Virginia Betteridge, liaison to the Camden County Department of Health. “During the event, attendees heard from several speakers who will cover important issues our municipalities are currently facing in the sphere of public health and how we can come up with solutions to create healthier communities in Camden County.”
