On Tuesday, Commissioner Melinda Kane joined military officials and community leaders for the 16th Annual Our Community Salutes of South Jersey High School Enlistee Ceremony to honor graduating high school seniors in Southern New Jersey who plan to enlist into the military immediately after high school graduation.
Over 400 people were in attendance, including local, state, and national leaders.
The 2024 featured speakers included:
- Command Sergeant Major Michele S. Jones
- Brigadier General Christopher R. Amrhein
“These remarkable young people deserve to be honored for their selfless decision to serve their country,” said Commissioner Melinda Kane, Gold Star Mother and liaison to the Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs. “I am so proud to celebrate this next chapter in their lives and wish them nothing but the best as they embark on this journey.”
OCS was started in Camden County in 2009. Today, OCS chapters exist in over 23 states, with over 40 OCS ceremonies being conducted this spring. Visit us at OurCommunitySalutes.org
