(Camden, NJ) – The Camden County Board of Freeholders and Office of Sustainability are launching a Plant Share Program beginning today, May 4. The Office has been growing herbs and vegetables and will be distributing them to residents to create their own “Victory Gardens,” where they can grow their own produce.

“Crises like the coronavirus pandemic often inspire a want for greater self-reliability, a more sustainable lifestyle, and to find ways that we can contribute by producing something of our own,” said Freeholder Jonathan Young, liaison to the Office of Sustainability. “The Plant Share Giveaway Program couldn’t come at a better time, as many of our residents want to avoid unnecessary trips to the supermarket or have a side project that they can tend to from home. Whether you’re a first-time gardener or a seasoned pro, this is a great opportunity to get started on your very own victory garden.”

Curbside pickup starts today, Monday May 4, at the Office of Sustainability site at 508 Lakeland Road in Gloucester Township. Adhering to COVID-19 restrictions, no access to greenhouses will be permitted.

Thanks to a successful launch, the Office cannot currently accept additional orders. Interested participants can submit their information and be added to a waitlist for any additional orders that become available. To be added to the program waitlist, visit here.
