(Lindenwold, NJ) – The Freeholder Board’s Department of Public Works is continuing the reconstructing of Jackson Road (CR 534) in Waterford Township.

To facilitate the construction, Jackson Road will be closed from Atco Avenue to Route 73 in both directions from May 30 until June 20.

“Jackson Road is a highly-traveled route from Route 73 to Waterford Township. Motorists need to be aware that the roadway will be closed during the reconstruction and plan accordingly,” said Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “The unique aspect to this project is that heavy equipment is being utilized to grind up and mix the existing asphalt with binding materials to create a new road. The reconstructed roadway will not need to be repaved for approximately 50 years, much longer than the typical asphalt project.”

The Camden County Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining 1,200 lane miles of county roadway and 50 bridges.  To report concerns on Camden County roadways, call (856) 566-2980 or visit www.camdencounty.com.

“Improving our roadway and bridge infrastructure while increasing highway safety is one of the best investments we can make in our county,” Shin Angulo said. “Each year the Freeholder Board identifies roadways and bridges that are in need of improvement across our region.”
