(Camden, NJ) – If you have been arrested or convicted of a crime in New Jersey, Rutgers Law School is offering a free opportunity to find out if you are eligible to have that conviction removed from your record.

On Saturday, March 24, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. staff from Rutgers Law School will be offering free expungement eligibility consultations to discuss the next steps necessary in clearing your record. The event will be held at South Jersey Legal Services at 745 Market St. in Camden.

“Expungement can be a critical part of someone’s post-conviction life, but the process is complicated and it’s hard to know where to start,” said Freeholder Jonathan Young, liaison to the Camden County Department of Correction and Juvenile Justice. “Anyone who is interested in taking advantage of this great opportunity should call the South Jersey Legal Services hotline to make an appointment and begin this life-changing process.”

Participants must call the SJLS hotline (800-496-4570) before the date of the event in order to determine income eligibility and to schedule a free expungement consultation.

Participants must bring their NJ State Police Criminal History Report to their consultation. If you do not have a report, call 877-503-5981 or visithttps://nj.ibtfingerprint.com to schedule a fingerprinting appointment. Bring a NJ Universal Fingerprint Form (www.njsp.org/info/pdf/20150129_universforma.pdf), proper identification and the $40.70 fee to your NJ State Police fingerprinting appointment.
