The
Public Health Nursing Services Unit comprises Adult Health, Maternal
Child Health (includes Well Child Services, Childhood Lead Poisoning
Prevention and Immunization Program); Tuberculosis Program; Special
Child Health Services and Non-Public School Health Nursing. The
focus of the program is health promotion, disease prevention referral,
follow-up and case management components so that access to care
is ensured.
Adult Health Services Programs:
Cancer Screening Services
To educate the public on the importance of early detection and prompt
treatment of breast, cervical and colorectal cancer. Provide a free
mammogram/cervical cancer program through Cooper and Virtual Health

Diabetes Services
Provides diabetes screenings and follow-up for those at risk with
diabetes and eye screenings for diabetes. Support groups and meal
planning are also available. Call (856) 374-5153 for more information.

Detection and referral through blood pressure and cholesterol screenings,

Health Services for Older Adults
Influenza and Pneumococcal Immunization Program Preventative care
by immunizing Camden County residents for influenza and pneumonia.
Program is available during the Fall and Winter. Contact the Department

Maternal Child Health Programs:
Well Child Services
To provide infants and preschool children with well - child visits
and childhood immunizations for families who do not have a medical
home. Follow-up through education and home visits to high-risk infants
and children to promote healthy growth and development. Parents

Immunization Program (County Administration
Building)
To control vaccine - preventable diseases in children by providing
immunizations for families who do not have a primary care provider.

Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Management
To educate, screen, and case manage children birth to age six who
have health risks including exposure to lead. Call (856) 374-6248

NJ
FamilyCare
NJ FamilyCare is a federal and state funded health insurance program
created to help New Jersey's uninsured children to have affordable
health coverage. NJ FamilyCare is offered to families who are unable
to afford to privately pay the high cost of health insurance. Eligibility
is based on monthly income and family size. For local assistance

“Su Familia” National Hispanic Family Health
Helpline:
The U.S. Health & Human Services Department will help Hispanic families
get basic health information to help prevent and manage chronic
conditions, and refer you to local health providers and federally
supported programs including the State Children’s Health Insurance
Program (SCHIP).

Su Familia bilingual information specialists refer callers to one
of over 16,000 local health providers, including community and migrant
health centers. Callers can also request basic health information,
referrals to information sources, or receive consumer-friendly,

for a wide variety of topics including asthma, cancer screening,
cardiovascular disease, child and adult immunizations, diabetes,
domestic violence and HIV/AIDS.
The
NJ Distance Learning Network:
Provides satellite broadcasts on a variety of health topics, many
of which offer Continuing Education Credits. Previous broadcasts
included clinical education on SARS, Smallpox, HIV/Aids, and Violence
Prevention. Broadcasts are offered frequently and cover contemporary
subjects of interest to Public Health Educators and Healthcare Professionals.
