Explanation
of Services:
Veterans
living in southern N.J., will soon have better health care access
at a new Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Annex (CBOA)
located in the new Camden County Improvement Authority garage retail
space on Broadway in Camden, NJ. Once a lease agreement is reached,
the new clinic will become an annex of the Philadelphia Veterans
Affairs Medical Center, which serves more than 350,000 veterans
in an eight-county area of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Health
care services slated to be provided at this facility will include
primary care, annual physical exams, preventative health services,
immunizations, routine lab work and the drawing of special lab specimens
for testing at the VA, EKG’s, patient education, nursing care,
and mental health diagnostic and treatment services.
This
facility will provide local veterans with immediate improvement
in primary care and with continuity of care at a convenient location.
Because of the availability of better outpatient health care, hospital
length of stays should decrease and patients will receive consistent
post-discharge follow-up care closer to their homes. The Philadelphia
VA Medical Center also operates community clinics in Horsham, Pa.,
Philadelphia, Gloucester County, N.J., and Fort Dix, N.J.
This
facility is located close to Camden’s Walter Rand Transportation
Center near PATCO's High Speedline Broadway Station which makes
it conveniently accessible for area veterans.
