CAMDEN COUNTY FREEDOM MEDAL
Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Nominations Being Accepted through December 12

Each year since 2001, the Camden County Freedom Medal has been presented to honor extraordinary Camden County citizens who have unselfishly contributed their time and effort to better their community while espousing those ideals indicative of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Nominees must be exemplary citizens who have demonstrated significant contributions in the area of community service, and must currently live in Camden County,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

Cappelli said the nomination must include a 300-word essay supporting the nominee’s accomplishments. The nominations will be evaluated by a 10-member panel, with results to be posted on www.camdencounty.com on December 19. Cappelli said the awards will be presented on January 23, 2009 during a ceremony at the main campus of the Camden County College in Blackwood.

Nomination forms are available on www.camdencounty.com the county website and must be returned by December 12, 2008.

Nominees should meet the following criteria:

  • Exemplary employment performance does not qualify as community service.

  • Must be an exemplary citizen who has demonstrated significant contributions in the areas of community service and

  • Must currently reside in Camden County.

  • Nominators must submit a three-hundred (300) word essay supporting his/her nominee’s accomplishments. Please attach the essay to the nomination form. Also, letters of reference and documentation (i.e. certificates of merit, newspaper articles, etc.) may be included with the submission application.

  • Past medal recipients are not eligible.
