ELECTIONS OFFICE READY TO VERIFY VOTER REGISTRATION INFO

The Camden County Superintendent of Elections Office
is prepared to verify voter registration information for motorists
notified by the New Jersey Secretary of State’s Office they
may not be eligible.
Superintendent Phyllis Pearl said the question can
be quickly answered by calling the Pennsauken-based office at (856)
661 3555. Ms. Pearl said inquiries are anticipated because of a
letter recently mailed this week to thousands of Camden County residents
who have done business since 2004 with the state Division of Motor
Vehicles in accord with the National Voter Registration Act.
Known as the Motor Voter Act, it went into effect
several years ago to make voter registration convenient “Receipt
of this letter raises questions about registration, but recipients
should call to make sure,” Ms. Pearl said. The Camden County
letters are part of a statewide mailing to 880,000 residents.
