For Immediate Release: September 18, 2008
Contacts: KEN SHUTTLEWORTH
Cell (609) 472-8837

The Camden County Superintendent of Elections Office is prepared to verify voter registration information for motorists notified by the New Jersey Secretary of State’s Office they may not be eligible.

Superintendent Phyllis Pearl said the question can be quickly answered by calling the Pennsauken-based office at (856) 661 3555. Ms. Pearl said inquiries are anticipated because of a letter recently mailed this week to thousands of Camden County residents who have done business since 2004 with the state Division of Motor Vehicles in accord with the National Voter Registration Act.

Known as the Motor Voter Act, it went into effect several years ago to make voter registration convenient “Receipt of this letter raises questions about registration, but recipients should call to make sure,” Ms. Pearl said. The Camden County letters are part of a statewide mailing to 880,000 residents.
