For Immediate Release: June 17, 2009
Contacts: KEN SHUTTLEWORTH (609) 472-8837
Directors
of the Camden County Improvement Authority have promoted Jim Blanda
to the position of executive director to oversee the county’s
economic development efforts.
The Haddon Heights resident will succeed Frederic
B. Weinstein of Cherry Hill, who announced plans to retire during
the June 11 CCIA meeting, prior to unanimous adoption of a motion
to promote Blanda from his present position as the authority’s
deputy director and chief financial officer.
The change is effective on August 1.
Blanda earned a bachelor’s degree in business
administration with a major in accounting from Rowan University
in 1994 and an MBA from Rutgers University in 2005. He is active
in his community as a member of the zoning board and as a coach
with youth athletic activities. He joined the CCIA in 2004 after
having served four years as chief financial officer of the Mercer
County Improvement Authority in Trenton.
Weinstein, an attorney/businessman, served as the
executive director for the past 18 months after having served as
chairman of the five-member authority for the previous 10 years.
He was first appointed to the authority by the Board of Freeholders
in 1994.
“We appreciate Fred’s service both
as executive director and chairman and we look forward to continued
success under Jim Blanda’s leadership,” said Freeholder
Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “The authority is a major force
in economic development with a record of public and private bond
financing of more than $1.5 billion. This investment has created
thousands of jobs throughout Camden County.”
