Camden County Covenant for Children, Youth & Families
Freeholders call for end to child abuse & introduce Children’s Bill of Rights
For Immediate Release: April 2, 2009
Contacts: RON TOMASELLO

This month, the Camden County Freeholder Board is launching a collaborative effort to provide children with the tools they need to succeed. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Month of the Young Child.

The Camden County Covenant for Children, Youth and Families offers resources, information and opportunities for children to reach their full potential as responsible and productive members of their communities.

“We must take action to insure that all children have a safe and nurturing environment in which to develop into adulthood,” said Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to Health and Human Services for the seven-member Freeholder Board. “We must provide our children with the proper guidance and environment to prosper.”

The Freeholder Board is sponsoring a Bill of Rights for the Children of Camden to reinforce their commitment to children’s services and well-being.

“We invite every parent, educator and community leader to join us in signing the Children’s Bill of Rights,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Protecting future generations is everyone’s responsibility.”

The Camden County Covenant for Children partners include: the Freeholder Board, Camden City Officials, the Community Planning and Advocacy Council (CPAC), the United Way of Camden County, the Center for Family Services, the Hispanic Family Center, Respond, Inc., the Task Force on Missing and Abused Children, DYFS, educators and community leaders.
