Experiences:
The 8th Air Force was the largest Air Force ever assembled in the
world. A 1000 bomber stream was approximately 25 miles long and
took 2 hours to pass. The 8th Air Force suffered 26,000 dead and
20,000 wounded. These were the highest casualty ratio of any branch
of service during World War II.
