SIMONS, ROBERT

Of Westmont, formerly of Haddonfield, died on June 8, 2006 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 25, 1927. Bob spent his teen-age years in Philadelphia where he attended Central High. He earned his B.S. at West Chester State Teacher's College and his M.S. at Ohio State University. Bob served in the army, including some time in Germany, and was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal. Bob's entire professional life was spent in the field of education. He taught History and English, was a guidance counselor, vice principal and principal. The position from which he retired was as head of the Curriculum Development Council at Glassboro State College.
Bob was an open, compassionate and joyful person. He was an inveterate and consummate punster and joke teller. Bob enjoyed singing, traveling, stimulating conversation and working out at the gym. He delighted in spending time with friends and family.
His wife of fifty-eight years, Sylvia, predeceased him. He was a devoted father to Jan (Mark) Schilling of Moorestown. Doting grandfather to David, Benjamin and Jamie Schilling. Loving brother to Marlene (Charles) Hummel of Delaware. Caring uncle to Mark, Jonathon and Jeffrey Hummel, Laura Warne and their families. He will be greatly missed by his significant other, Annemarie Buongiovanni and many other dear friends and family members.
