E. DONALD Age 83, died Friday, July 14, 2006 at Cadbury Continuing Care Community, Cherry Hill, NJ. He was born January 8, 1923 in Saddlertown, NJ and later lived for over forty years in Moorestown, NJ. He was the son of Dorothy and Elmer Congo (deceased) and devoted father to Ronald Congo (deceased). After graduating from Haddonfield High School and attending Virginia Union University, he served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, he earned a bachelor's degree from LaSalle University and enjoyed a distinguished career as an accountant and agent for the Internal Revenue Service. A longtime member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Camden, NJ, Mr. Congo served as treasurer and as a member of the vestry. He was a lifetime member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Congo is survived by cousins, Dorothy Congo Pitts and Pauline Congo Pitts; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Theodore and Mary Moody; nieces, Veronica Hughes, Barbara Ilaw and Delores Thomas; great nieces, Karen Phillips, Lynnly Glynn and Samone Thomas; and dear friend, Leslie Lemmerman. The family extends gratitude to his Cadbury family and the wonderful nurses, doctors and aides who cared for him with care and compassion. A memorial service will be held 10AM Thursday, July 20, 2006, at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, Broadway and Royden, Camden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Negro College Fund. Ministry of comfort entrusted to TUNSIL FUNERAL HOME, Palmyra. |
